Thank you to our partners at the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs for hosting the event today featuring the launch of Peace Boat's publication “Navigating Disarmament Education: The Peace Boat Model", co-authored by Sumiko Hatakeyama and Akira Kawasaki. This publication introduces Peace Boat’s methodology for disarmament education, which directly stems from lessons learned through implementation of various disarmament education programs. It also discusses how disarmament education should be implemented in relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs) and how digital technologies can be leveraged to provide a fruitful experience for participants. Special thanks also to our guest speakers, Dr Kathleen Sullivan and Randy Rydell, and to the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Ms Nakamitsu, for your opening to today's publication launch and the foreword in our new publication! "If we partner & learn from one another...we will overcome challenges & continue our journey towards a more peaceful, secure & sustainable world." - Izumi Nakamitsu United Nations High Representative for Disarmament Affairs
